Grand Canyon in Dec 2008
Posted by zvoni00
I am planning a backpacking trip to the Grand Canbyon around Christmas. The dates are around Dec 24 - 29 with 3-4 days max. The primary objective will be the Tanner Trail with the Beamer Trail to the confliuence of Colorado River and Little Colorado. These trails are in the eastern part of the park (Desert View). Alternative can be the Tanner to Escalante to GrandView or the loop in the Hermit Trail to Dripping Springs area. The general info about the routes are here http://www.nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/campsite-information.htm
I do not have the permits as of now, but it must be much easier to obtain the permit even with the walk-in fashion.
Tanner trail combined with the Beamer Trail is one the best of the trips (going by the description in the guide book and the trip reports). Should be interesting.

Somewhat close to what I want to do in GC is reported here http://www.grandcanyonhiker.com/trip_reports/karsh/
