Network
equipment connectivity:
Equipment
Definition Files provide an easy way for creating the drivers
for different process equipment.
-
Arbitration:
The SES arbitrates read and write access among its clients to ensure
that they can safely access the equipment without interfering with
each other.
-
Security:
The SES implements the three
levels of client access to two types of variables: read-only
variables and read/write variables
-
The
SES web-based
Administration enables
an operator to easily setup and administer the SES network locally
and remotely.

Host
communications package includes:
-
ActiveX
and Java network client interfaces enable direct access to
equipment variables through the set of objects over TCP/IP, hiding
details of SECS protocol from application developers.
-
Events,
Alarms, Traces: Events and alarms signal to the client that
something of interest (such as abnormal condition) has happened in
the equipment. The trace reports regularly deliver the values of specific
variables requested by remote clients in a time-stamped packet.
-
Logging:
The SES automatically logs
administrative actions, warnings,
and errors. Additional levels of logging are available for diagnostic
and debugging.
